After the Festival

I didn't take my laptop with me to the festival, which turned out to be probably a mistake when I had to go the nearby Apple store to get a new phone when mine turned out to be an expensive, thin, useless paperweight. I then had access to none of the data that is stored on my phone, including the cell phone number of the friend who was picking me up at the airport.

Why, yes, that is a Tiny, Little, Sorry Ass, First-World Problem.

By the time I got to the festival, I was dog tired, worn out, and up to here (points to forehead). I was excited to see friends old and new, but a little frazzled by the sheer volume of humanity and the choices that had to be made in order to get to utilize some of the wisdom there. The term "embarrassment of riches" comes to mind. But in having to choose, there are whole parts of the festival that I did not get to enjoy, including some of my favorite preachers/teachers. I mean honestly, who wants to make the Craddock VS Brueggemann choice? Not I , said the duck.

At one point, I observed that the festival consisted of whatever I could cram in between feedings. I was highly motivated to share my meals with friends whom I never get to see, which resulted in some truly sublime gustatory events. And just who was here at home shrinking all my clothes while I was gone?

Back home again, I am right back into the swim. I was "on" this morning, so yesterday was spent unpacking, doing laundry, and writing a sermon. Oh, and watching that travesty of taste and justice called the American Idol final. Oy.

Another really busy week is ahead of me, followed by another, and another. Lather, rinse, repeat. I will be gone five days in June and thirteen days in July. Five of those days will be spent moving our daughter 2,300 miles to go to school. I'm not ready. Not on any level.

perhaps, and only perhaps... the routine and the ritual of business will settle you interiorally enough so you can be as ready as a mom can be to let her duckie spread her wings and leave the nest?

welcome home...

Craddock vs Brueggeman????? That's wrong on so very many levels.

I'm glad that you were able to enjoy some good meals with friends though...

So .... when are you going to post that pic of our awesome shoes? Or was that not you with the camera? It's all a blur.

I don't know how people are expected to do these things, the choosing or the moving.

Shoe pics please.

Damn. I was hoping things would slow down at some point in the distant future. Guess it's just a sprint until the abrupt stop at the end, huh?

I wish I'd been there so you could flip your nametag at me again. :-)

I get tired just reading your life. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in slower, breathe out slower. Repeat. Praying for you in this hectic time and for the upcoming transition. LYMI.

What hot cup said. It's hard... both of mine are out of the house now... but in some ways... it's easier too. God will get you ready my friend... for the moving out... and the moving back in... and all of the stuff that happens in between. You will become more wise... more strong... more peaceful... and thus more beautiful... with each day that passes.
