I know. Comfort yourself with the following things from the supermarket:
* whipped cream
* penne rigate
* Haagen Dasz
* bars of dark chocolate
* French bread
* bleu cheese. The good stuff.
Know that she will be back before you know it for a break, and you'll be shopping for those things again. Also know that one of the little gifts of being an empty-nester is that your house will be in roughly the same condition you left it when you come back from work in the evening. Small comfort, I know, but take it where you can.
You'll get through this. Blessings.
Thinking of you.
Beer.
Or Moose Poop.
Or both.
((cheese)). you are a great mom.

i come to sing the blessings of the "care package from home," for items that can be sent that way. and surely there are some local/favorite items that simply cannot be found easily in the wilds of SF?
my daughter also really likes getting postcards -- they all ended up on her wall at school!
next year is going to be rough for us on the care package front -- i have tended to send a lot of japanese things to her in rural oregon, but next year she will be in japan. will need to lean more heavily on mac&cheese, "american" things, and postcards.
trust me on this one--care packages from home--even if they contain 1 ply toilet paper are always met with enormous delight and raging jealousy (by those not receiving them).

Awwwwwwwww
took me awhile to figure this out. i was wondering if you had given up soy or wheat or what... but of course... sorry to be so thick.
and still sending you love.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for the big week away and taking J's favorite food with me... it's hard and wonderful to imagine that mama milk gives way to pirate booty, etc.
Hang in there, friend.
Eat some meat!
KJ: But how can it be fun without a girl calling me a "murderer"?
Care packages. vacations. These items you list: they'll be back....
Well, you can always eat some cheese tortellini in her honor!
And when your food budget goes down you can mentally add the difference to the the tuition bill.
I'm in denial myself about how little time there is until the Kid leaves.
